I have adopted modern techniques like drip irrigation and plastic mulching on my approximately 1.5 acres of land. Currently I am cultivating bitter gourd and brinjal. Using drip irrigation in both crops has given me very good results. The biggest advantage of drip irrigation is that water reaches the roots of plants drop by drop in the required quantity.

Along with water, liquid fertilizers, pesticides and other nutrients can also be easily supplied through drip. This saves a lot of water, plants stay healthy, and problems like root rot caused by excess water are also avoided. Plastic mulching also benefited me greatly — weeds don't grow in the field because sunlight and water don't reach the weeds.
